Sadly, Cancer has touched many lives, either affecting us personally, our friends or within our families. People in Chipping Campden and the surrounding villages may have to use the Cheltenham Oncology Centre services and could benefit from this project. We're calling on people to support the Big Breakfast, 27th September, The Church Rooms, Chipping Campden and in our small way help raise funds towards this worthy cause. By supporting the Big Space Cancer Appeal, you’re helping build a centre that’s not just fit for purpose—but fit for people. Every patient deserves space to heal, reflect, connect, and thrive.

The Big Space Cancer Appeal: Building a Brighter Future for Cancer Care in Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire Hospitals Charity has launched The Big Space Cancer Appeal, a £17.5 million fundraising initiative to create a modern, patient-centred cancer centre at Cheltenham General Hospital . Already, more than £9 million has been raised—over halfway to the goal.

 Why This Appeal Matters

For over 60 years, the Trust has served millions in Gloucestershire—but many of the current facilities are aging, cramped, and no longer fit for purpose. The new centre will ensure patients receive the best care in a space designed for healing .

Appeal Objectives

The initiative focuses on providing Space to…

Care – Build spacious consulting rooms fitted with digital technology to improve efficiency and reduce waiting times .

Talk – Create private, comfortable environments for sensitive conversations between patients and clinicians .

Think – Offer calm, light-filled breakout rooms where patients and their loved ones can reflect on news and treatment options .

Recover – Design welcoming waiting areas and a therapeutic garden, with floor‑to‑ceiling windows and refreshments, encouraging comfort and respite .

Rest – Establish a soothing environment throughout—using natural light, gentle décor, and thoughtful design to promote healing .

Innovate – Provide dedicated spaces for groundbreaking research and clinical trials, advancing cancer care locally and nationally .

What Happens Next

Phase 1: Construct a new wing at Cheltenham General—featuring modern consulting rooms, research facilities, and therapeutic garden .

Phase 2: Upgrade existing Oncology Centre spaces.
