It is a busy time in the Rotary calendar.

At our meeting on 26 February our President Elect Helen Karakashian gave a very interesting “Job Talk”. At the age of three Helen was a model for children’s clothes. Her parents were pleased that modelling did not last long. After school Helen had a very successful career as a PA to leading well known businessmen. Helen is now very involved with working with and encouraging traditional crafts to various clubs and societies.

On 13 March we entertained North Cotswold Rotary Club to a skittles match at The Butchers Arms in Mickleton. We are in a league of three Rotary clubs, and this was our first match. It was a very enjoyable evening with North Cotswold winning with a score of 353 to our 299. A photo shows our captain Steve Webb in action, and the other photo is our team. Unfortunately, Winchcombe Rotary Club have dropped out of the competition, and our next game will be away to North Cotswold at The Farmers Arms in Guiting Power on 30 March.

Monday 16 March saw our annual primary school speaking competition take place at The Town Hall. The subject this year was “Dreaming”. Four local schools, Blockley, Mickleton, St James Ebrington and St Catharines Chipping Campden entered the competition. The contestants this year were Milly Postin, Isobelle Richmond, Marlow Cuschieri, Rafe White, Ophelia Lancashire, Abi Broomfield and Lucie Buckland. As with past years the talent of these 5/6 school year contestants was amazing. Our judges Beth Gregory, Jill and Chris Leese had the task of selecting the winners, not an easy task as they all performed exceptionally well on the night. In first place was Milly Postins, in second place Isobelle Richmond and in third place Rafe White. President Geoff Mayling presented the awards to the winners and the school trophy to St Catharine's Primary School. A photo shows the seven contestants.
